The Brandeis Graduate Outdoors Club is organizing "Buds, Beavers, and Bluejays at Assabet or, Encountering the Lion," an outdoors trip for Brandeis graduate students and conference participants where all can enjoy observing, pondering, and discussing nonhuman entities. This is an informal space where students and conference participants -- panelists, attendees, and anyone at all -- can continue chatting about conference questions, and it will hopefully be a time for all to enjoy and connect with the outdoors, while continuing to ponder its intricacies. We are going to Assabet Wildlife Refuge in Sudbury, MA. It is one of eight refuges in the Eastern Massachusetts National Wildlife Refuge Complex and home to a variety of creatures. You can learn more about Assabet here.

We will try to observe and explore what is present in early spring. This includes evidence of beavers; flowers including lady slippers, trout lilies, and mayflowers; birds like bluejays and turkeys; and frogs and salamanders. The trip will take place on Saturday, April 1 (the day after the conference) from 9am to roughly 12pm. You can sign up here.
